The 6 AM Ice Bath Dad

 There I was, standing under freezing water at six in the morning, wondering if I’d finally lost it. Cold showers are supposed to wake you up, boost your mood, and toughen your mind. What it actually did in that moment was make me question every life choice I’d ever made—including having six kids who would be awake in less than an hour.

From there, I decided to take it further: sauna sessions, hot-cold contrast cycles, breathwork—basically every wellness hack I’d seen online. Some were brutal, some were surprisingly doable, and a few even made me feel like I’d found a secret energy source buried under the exhaustion of parenting.

So what’s hype and what’s actually worth trying in real family life? That’s what I set out to figure out.
